Took the kids to the park for...well all damned day really. Just got home a little while ago, and I think I broke them. The little one ate two bowls of cereal and then conked out in a chair, and the big one is laying on the floor looking drowsy. I could have insisted we come home earlier I guess, but it was 70 today and I live in Chicago. I took a ton of pics because today was my day to be that mother at that park. In my defense it hit me that kid #1's halfway to adulthood. |

Someone please explain to me how a teacher not dropping everything to deal with 45 minutes of crying from one kid at 5 = neglect and emotional abuse. The kid isn't crying because his arm is broken or anything, he's crying because he got in trouble. Who are these people, and why are they raising children? |

Why is it p_dilla and I have some of our best conversations when we need to get up in the morning? Things have been so stressful and we're having such a good relaxed time tonight so of course he has to be at work early. We need to figure out a way to abscond for a weekend sometime soon so we can keep this good momentum going. In other news my hair is almost long enough for a ponytail. I will have to learn how to pull it tight without giving myself a headache all over again. |

| Saturday Night College (and/or High School) Football Check-In |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|08:21 pm] |
What's up college football fans? It's that time again. Time to gloat or groan about your alma mater or favorite team's performances this weekend.
Pretty good weekend for me as Delaware State edged soon-to-be-returning-to-DII Winston Salem State 24-21, moving their mark to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in MEAC play. The Howard High School Wildcats also won, clobbering Thomas McKean High School 36-0 Friday night and moving their mark to 8-1. A win next week against Appoquinimik High School gives them a share of the Flight B title and a spot in the Delaware Division II State playoffs.
So, how'd your teams do?

| WTF Happened to Sammy Sosa? |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|01:22 pm] |

Retirement, or something, appears to be changing Sammy Sosa(notes). He and wife, Sonia, were recently in Las Vegas for the Latin Grammys, which included a tribute on Wednesday to singer Juan Gabriel. Photogs caught the Sosas on the red carpet and Sonia looks fabulous as always. As for Sammy ... well, there's no getting around it, but Sammy looked kind of pale.
Sammy, who hasn't played since 2007, has been accused of using modern chemistry to help him attain 609 career homers — including three seasons of 60-plus. Perhaps he's turning to science to give him a different veneer as he approaches his 41st birthday.

| Beating the hell out of your girlfriend is not a private matter |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|01:33 pm] |
And Chris Brown sinks to new lows.
"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," he said in the statement. "I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."
LOL okay then nope you're not trying to change, you sound like a spoiled child. new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/hiphopmediatraining/229180/chris-brown-responds-to-rihannas-tell-all-tv-interviews/

| Joe Jackson Wants Money from MJ's Estate |

| | irate | ] | Joe Jackson claims there was "no justification" for him to be excluded from getting money from Michael Jackson's estate ... and now he's asking a judge to grant him a monthly allowance.
Joe just filed papers in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming he's "entitled to his own independent family allowance."
In the docs, Leonard Rowe -- a guy who claims to have been MJ's manager -- says Michael used to give his mother Katherine up to $60,000 a month to live on, and that Michael instructed her to give half of it to Joe.
Joe claims Michael's estate has "earned more than $100 million dollars in the first seven (7) weeks following Michael Jackson's death" and is "well able to afford a family allowance for Joe Jackson."
Joe says he has $15,425 in total monthly expenses, including the following:
-- $2,500 eating out -- $2,000 for air travel -- $3,000 for hotel bills -- $1,000 for groceries -- $1,200 for rent -- $50 in charitable contributions
UPDATE -- Howard Weitzman, one of the attorneys the Special Administrators for Michael Jackson's Estate, tells TMZ: "The Special Administrators have been made aware that Joe Jackson filed papers asking to be paid a family allowance from the Estate. It was quite surprising to learn of the request. Mr. Jackson's Petition will be considered as are all requests for money from Michael's Estate." -TMZ.com |

| This may be the best thing ever shown on Larry King |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|12:05 am] |
The very idea that being a major = no possible psychological problems makes me want to jump in the screen and slap the JAG officer in the mouth. Protip: The kind of guy that insinuates that sort of shit is a joke as an officer. He doesn't know the first damned thing about the reality of a mission. Instead he'll sit on his ass in the rear echelon preening and never once figure out why no one that talks to him for longer than 5 seconds has any respect for him. Fortunately she was there to get in his ass. I'm a little perplexed to find Dr. Phil not getting on my nerves though. |

| Elizabeth Lambert: Suspended Indefinitely. |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|11:28 pm] |
USA TODAY
The heat was on in a Mountain West women's semifinal soccer game yesterday between Brigham Young and New Mexico.
New Mexico defender Elizabeth Lambert's physical play is all over the Internet today -- and rightfully so -- after the 5-8 junior punched, kicked and roughed up just about any BYU player unfortunate enough to cross her path.
The video below tells the full story and shows Lambert shoving one player, kicking another, kicking the ball into another's face (for which Lambert received a yellow card) and finally violently yanking an opponent to the ground by her pony tail.
Amid a hoard of attention from the blogosphere today, New Mexico announced that Lambert has been suspended indefinitely from all team practices, competition and conditioning activities.
“I am deeply and wholeheartedly regretful for my actions. My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept any punishment felt necessary from the coaching staff and UNM administration. This is in no way indicative of my character or the soccer player that I am.
“I am sorry to my coaches and teammates for any and all damages I have brought upon them. I am especially sorry to BYU and the BYU women’s soccer players who were personally affected by my actions. I have the utmost respect for the BYU women’s soccer program and its players.”

| "Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting" |
[Nov. 6th, 2009|04:19 pm] |
http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/politics/A-Disconnected-President.html
President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.
After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective. ( Read more... ) |
